A person was taken to hospital following a crash involving a lorry and a car just off one of Dundee’s busiest roads on Wednesday.

Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the incident at the Jack Martin Way roundabout on the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road just before noon.

Firefighters had to cut one trapped person free following the collision.

Police say one motorist has been reported for “careless driving” following the incident.

The car was left ruined following the incident just off the A90.A silver Volvo was left ruined by the side of the road, its front and windscreen smashed in, following the crash.

The collision happened next to the Struans Dundee garage.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said one person was taken to Ninewells Hospital.

He said: “We received a call at 11.55am to attend a road traffic incident at the Jack Martin Way roundabout.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient to Ninewells Hospital.”

A spokesman for the force said: “Police Scotland attended a road traffic collision on the A90 at a roundabout to the north of Fintry, Dundee, shortly after 12pm between a car and a lorry.

“One person has been taken to hospital with unknown injuries, and one person is to be reported for careless driving.”

A fire and rescue spokesman said one person had to be cut free from a vehicle using hydraulic cutting gear before being “handed over to paramedics”.

He added: “We were called and had three appliances there. It was passed through to us from police at 12.05pm.

“One casualty was released from the vehicle.”

The emergency services could not shed light on whether the casualty was the same person cut free at the scene.

Elsewhere a crash forced the closure of the southbound A90 between the A926 near Forfar and the B957 by Finavon at about 1pm on Wednesday.

A car is said to have landed on its side during the incident.

The road was quickly reopened.
