A Dundee man has appeared in connection following a near-24-hour alleged standoff with police on the Hilltown.
Ryan Duke, 27, appeared in private on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court before Sheriff Alastair Brown on Monday afternoon.
Duke is alleged to have acted in a threatening and abusive manner at an address on Ann Street on Sunday October 28.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
It follows a 20 hour police operation which was witnessed by the public on Ann Street on Sunday.
Police were called to an address on the Hilltown street, close the Frances Wright nursery, shortly after 3am on Sunday morning.
The street was closed for 20 hours to people and traffic, with some residents evacuated and advised to spend the evening elsewhere.
Armed officers formed part of the “massive” response, as well as officers from Scottish Fire and Rescue and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
There was one police car spotted at the scene of the alleged disturbance on Monday morning.
Workmen were also seen attending the flat where the alleged offence took place.
One resident said: “It lasted for more than 18 hours and not once were we informed of what was going on.
“If I hadn’t looked out the window first thing yesterday morning and just walked out on to the street to see what was going on I probably would’ve thought something terrible had happened.
“We should have been given an update in the morning when it was light and again when it was all over but we got nothing.
“I’m glad it is over no one hurt and we can get back to normality.”
