Dundee councillor Craig Duncan has slammed “mindless vandals” who smashed the windows of a busy bus shelter in Broughty Ferry.
The Liberal Democrat councillor reported the incident, which apparently occurred during the early hours of November 25 on Balgillo Road, to the police and council.
Broken glass was left strewn on the ground. It has since been swept away but the window panes were still to be replaced on Tuesday, with a council spokesman saying it will be done “as soon as possible”.
The bus stop in question is near the Forthill Road junction and is on one of the busier routes in Broughty Ferry.

The Ferry councillor stressed he never wants to see incidents like this happen as it “shows a lack of respect”, as well as posing a safety concern.
He said: “This sort of mindless vandalism is disgraceful and I have reported the matter to the police. I would urge anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area over the weekend to contact the police.
“It is particularly disappointing to see this happen in an area where vandalism is a very unusual occurrence.
“We get probably two incidents like this a year. It’s certainly not a plague of them. But my point is that we don’t want them at all. It takes time and money to clear up and replace the glass.

“It would be wonderful if those responsible were caught this time as they’ve shown a lack of respect.”
Mr Duncan said incidents like this waste council time and resources, as even “with the best will in the world, the council isn’t going to get it repaired right away” as it takes time and money to do so.
He added: “Even when the glass is swept away there is still are still issues as people can’t really sit somewhere they are supposed to get shelter, especially with the cold weather coming in.”
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: “The council has cleared up the site and is arranging for the shelter to be fixed as soon as possible.”
