A pair of new school campuses were officially opened by education minister and deputy first minister John Swinney on Wednesday.
The SNP MSP was in Dundee to tour the new North East and Coldside sites, which cost £17m and £16m respectively.
Pupils celebrated the opening with songs, including the Rosebank Song — written and performed by the Rosebank Glee Group.
There were also speeches by some head teachers of the various schools that encompass the campuses.
The North East Campus contains Longhaugh Primary, St Francis Primary and Quarry View Nursery schools.
The Coldside Campus contains Our Lady’s Primary, Rosebank Primary and Frances Wright Nursery schools.
Both buildings have been in operation since August.
Mr Swinney said: “I have the rare pleasure of being of being asked to open two brand new state of the art facilities on the same day here in Dundee.
“The campuses will both benefit the communities they serve while providing exciting new facilities which learners and staff can be proud of.
“I am pleased that the Scottish Government was able to provide funding of more than £9 million towards the construction of North East campus as part of our £1.8 billion Schools for the Future programme which will see 117 schools across Scotland replaced or refurbished by March 2020.
“I wish both campuses and all who use them the best of luck for the future.”
In his speech before unveiling the Coldside plaque, Mr Swinney spoke of his admiration for the work done by Dundee City Council to build new school campuses, as well as the “ambition” to bring assets such as the V&A to the city.
When asked if other areas of the city can hope to see similar investment, he said: “When this government came to office, attainment levels were at 62% but since 2008 we have raised that to 88%.
“We want to maintain that so we can we can continue to improve the school estate for young people.”
Councillor Stewart Hunter, children and families convener, said: “These new campus buildings demonstrate how we are investing for the future of our young people.
“The official openings are a great way to celebrate an important day for the whole of the community.”
