A brazen thief stole two vintage-style microphones after sneaking into the home of a Dundee singer.

Susan Colgan, one of the vocalists in the Vintage Girls , said she will now have to find replacements before the trio’s next gig in Ballater.

She believes the thief sneaked into her home near Dundee Law while the door was open to let her dog out and made off with the two microphones and stands.

Susan said replacing the microphones will cost several hundred pounds but she hopes they will be found when the perpetrator tries to sell them.

Susan, 37, said: “The whole thing is a little bit strange.

“Someone has stolen them from the cupboard under the stairs but somehow I don’t think they’ll get much use out of them so I think they will try to sell them.

“There is other stuff in the cupboard they could have taken, which is why I don’t understand why they went for the microphones.

“We do have a dog that barks quite a lot so I wonder if it scared them when they got into the house.”

She added: “Thankfully, we don’t have anything booked until next weekend so should have some time to pick up new stuff.”

Susan has now appealed on social media for anyone who sees the sees the microphones up for sale to get in touch with her via Facebook.

She wrote: “Two vintage mics and mic stands were stolen from my home. The mics were connected to the stands and have been taken in the last 10 days or so.

“I would appreciate anyone who sees these being sold in a shop somewhere to get in touch.”

She has also phoned round music and pawn shops in the Dundee area to see if anyone had tried to offload the stolen goods.

The Vintage Girls – Susan, Mary McDougall and Rebecca Gibbon – are a vocal trio that specialise in close harmony singing.

They perform songs from the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

They performed in front of hundreds of people at this year’s WestFest at Magdalen Green, when they guested with the Woodlands Dance Orchestra.
