UPDATE: The bridge has been reopened in both directions.

The bridge was closed after concerns for a person were raised. A police spokesman confirmed the person was “removed safe and well”.

The Tay Road Bridge was closed at about 8.45am, and reopened at about 9.25am.

One driver said the traffic had backed up about 300 metres on the Fife side of the Tay.

A RNLI spokesperson said that both lifeboats had been launched from Broughty Ferry around 8.40am.
