Clepington Road forced to close as vehicle crashes into parked cars

One of Dundee’s busiest streets was forced to close after a vehicle crashed into a number of parked cars on Thursday afternoon.

Clepington Road was shut off by police near the Mains Loan junction for more than an hour after the incident at about 2.35pm.

A car is said to have collided with a number of vehicles parked on the route.

Police say three cars had to be recovered.

Nobody was injured in the collision.

A police spokesman said: “A car has struck some parked cars. The road was closed to assist the recovery of vehicles.”

Announcing that the road had reopened, the force posted to Facebook: “Police Scotland can confirm that Clepington Road, at Mains Loan Dundee, has now reopened. Members of the public are thanked for their patience.”

It comes just almost two weeks after a crash forced the close of Clepington Road for several hours. A woman was treated by paramedics following the two-car collision on the morning of Saturday, July 6.

Following the incident locals called for safety measures on the busy route, which they claimed is being used as a rat run.
