Mr Brodie had been suffering from various health issues for some time but took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago.

“It’s been a funny old week in here to say the least but it has been made easier by the visits and messages from our loyal customers, the people we still see day in and day out and those who don’t get a chance to get in so often nowadays, we really do appreciate you.

“The boss man has left some very big shoes to fill but we will continue to do our best to bring you the kind of second hand record experience Dundee deserves, and which Alastair has delivered since day one in 1976.

“Funeral arrangements have been made for Tuesday the 13th of August, 12.30pm at the Dundee Crematorium.

“Anyone who knew Breeks or has been a customer is more than welcome to attend and pay their respects.

“The instruction is not to wear black, but instead wear something colourful. The shop will be closed on this day.”
