A popular Dunfermline band hopes to score a Christmas number one while raising funds for sick and disabled children.

Suited and Booted is bidding to hit the top of the charts with their new song Best Christmas Ever, which they will launch at Dunfermline’s Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday.

Some of the money raised from the sale of the single will go towards this year’s Christmas appeal by Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The charity is appealing for donations to help children with life shortening illnesses and their families to enjoy a special Christmas together.

Suited and Booted, a well-known function and covers band, have described their song as a “light-hearted exploration of all our Christmases”.

Derek Henderson, who wrote it with band member Garry Stanton, said: “Festive tunes from the 70s and 80s dominate the Christmas period and our single Best Christmas Ever is a throwback to this time.

“A generation has grown up without their own Christmas theme tune and we’re here to put a stop to that.

“A portion of profits from the sale of the song will be donated to CHAS and we’re encouraging everyone to download the song to support such a worthwhile charity and get us to the number one spot.”

Laura Campbell, senior community fundraiser at CHAS, added: “Best Christmas Ever is an old-fashioned Christmas bonanza and we’re delighted that Suited and Booted are donating a portion of profits from the sale of downloads of the song to CHAS.

“We rely on the generosity of supporter like Derek, Garry and Suited and Booted to raise much-needed funds to help us with our mission of reaching every single baby, child and young person in Scotland with a life-shortening condition.

“We are committed to making sure that no matter how little time families have together, it is filled with as much happiness and fun as possible.

“But for every family we help, there is another that is struggling alone and to be able to reach them all we simply need to raise more money.”

Best Christmas Ever will be available to download from the Suited and Booted website at www.suitedandbooted.net and all other major music streaming sites from Saturday.
