A dumped boyfriend bombarded his ex-partner with more than 750 phone calls and messages in just six days, leaving her fearing for her life.

Drew Davidson, 24, waged a campaign of abuse against his former girlfriend by sending her abusive and threatening messages and repeatedly phoning her.

He reacted badly to their break-up and his “retaliation” was described at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, where he admitted engaging an abusive course of conduct between November 8 and 13, last year, at an address in Kirkcaldy.

As well as calling his former partner derogatory names, Davidson, who appeared from Perth Prison, threatened her with violence and said he would damage her property.

The pair had only been in a relationship for four weeks when Davidson sent the woman a message calling her an offensive name and she broke up with him.

He began contacting her repeatedly with phone calls and messages, leaving her so frightened she called police.

Procurator fiscal depute Claire Bremner said: “She told police she was in fear for her life.”

When police went to Davidson’s home he claimed he didn’t own a mobile phone but they spotted a charger in his room and found several phones.

Ms Bremner read out some abusive and threatening messages from Davidson and said: “Almost all of the messages were of a similar nature.”

Solicitor Martin McGuire said the relationship had been relatively short and when it ended Davidson had “vented his frustration”.

Sentence was deferred for reports by Sheriff James Gilchrist QC, who said he required to determine the risk Davidson posed to future partners.

Davidson was returned to custody until his next appearance on February 21.
