One person was taken to hospital following a crash on one of Fife’s busiest roads on Friday morning.

Two vehicles collided on the A92 Dundee to Dunfermline road at Rathillet at about 9.30am.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene, with the route closed in both directions for about two-and-a-half hours.

One person was taken to Ninewells Hospital, however their injuries are not believed to be serious.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called around 9.30am to a report of a two-car crash on the A92 near the Hazelton junction.

“Emergency services are at the scene. There are not thought to be any serious injuries. The road has been closed in both directions.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 9.42am today to attend a road traffic collision on the A92 near Kilmany.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one patient to Ninewells Hospital.”

A fire and rescue spokeswoman said two appliances have been called to the scene, one from Cupar and another from Blackness Road in Dundee.

Following the incident, Traffic Scotland tweeted: “Drivers are advised that the A92 is closed at Rathillet in both directions due to road traffic incident, drivers are asked to use an alternate route.”

The road was reopened at noon.
