‘We will miss you forever’: Heartbreaking tributes to Fife dad who died after being struck by car

A young dad has died in hospital after being struck by a car in a Glenrothes street.

William Fisher suffered fatal injuries in the crash last Thursday evening.

The 25-year-old was a father to an 11-month-old baby and his partner posted a heartrending message on social media after news of death emerged.

Below a picture of him cuddling his daughter, fiancee Jacqueline Arnott, wrote: “Daddy will always be looking over you princess.”

Mr Fisher, of Glenrothes, was crossing Formonthills Road when he was hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra at around 8.25pm.

The driver was unhurt in the incident.

Police have already spoken to a number of witnesses but issued an appeal to any motorists with dash-cam footage of the moments before the accident to get in touch.

Friends paid tribute to former Auchmuty High School pupil and Fife College student Mr Fisher, who was nicknamed Wildo.

Friend Hayley McGrory Carrie said: “Shine bright big man we will miss you forever.”

Mr Fisher’s cousin Kira Lee Byrne said: “Fly high William, love and miss you always”.

Denise Wallace, of North Glenrothes Community Council, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr Fisher’s family at this difficult time.

“Our thoughts are also extended to the driver.”

Part of Formonthills Road was closed for several hours after the collision as police launched an investigation into the circumstances.

Sergeant Ewan Pearce, of the road policing unit in Glenrothes, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Fisher’s family at this difficult time and our inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“Anyone with information or dash-cam footage that could assist who has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact the road policing unit in Glenrothes by calling 101.”

The incident was one of two serious road collisions in Fife within hours of each other.

On Friday morning a 68-year-old man was taken to hospital after a van and car collided on the A91 between Cupar and Dairsie.

He was said to be in a serious but stable condition.
