Police are hunting a van driver following a crash involving four HGVs on one of Fife’s busiest roads.
Police say a 55-year-old man was taken to hospital after the lorry drivers were forced into taking “evasive action” on the A92 Cowdenbeath to Lochgelly road.
The accident took place at about 2.50pm and resulted in the busy route being closed for more than an hour.
Police are now trying to trace the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van.
Firefighters and paramedics were also called to the scene.
One person is said to have been freed from a vehicle with the assistance of a heavy rescue unit.
The 55-year-old suffered leg injuries and was taken to Victoria Hospital in Fife.
Sergeant Nicola Young of the Fife Road Policing Unit said: “We are eager to trace the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van which was travelling in an eastbound direction at the time of the crash to help with our investigation into the full circumstances of what happened.
“We are also appealing for any dash-cam footage of the incident or the white Mercedes van. Anyone with information that can help please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1990 of Wednesday, 26 February.”
