Plans have been submitted to transform the site of a former Leven pub into new housing.
Campion Homes has unveiled proposals to construct six affordable flats at what used to be the Silver Tassie.
The Linnwood Drive venue was destroyed by fire in the summer of 2011, having lain empty for more than a year at that time.
The site has remained dormant ever since, with residents reported to have been apprehensive about the timetable for any development.
It is understood that work on the proposed two-storey building could begin before the end of the year if the planning application is approved.
The development would also include parking spaces for 10 vehicles to prevent congestion on the surrounding streets.
Kingdom Housing Association is expected to take on the homes if the green light is given, with a decision from Fife Council expected in the summer.
A spokesman for Campion Homes said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Kingdom Housing Association and have submitted a planning application to provide six flats for affordable rent.
“The Levenmouth area is in need of this property tenure and the new development will tidy up what has been an eyesore in the community for many years.
“If the application is successful we hope to commence late summer and have the
properties ready for occupation in early 2017.”
