A Perth teenager is proving he’s got what it takes to make it in the world of journalism after scooping a string of high profile celebrity interviews.

Still only 14-years-old, Kenzie G, is already well on the way to achieving his dream of becoming a news reporter after securing interviews with actor Hugh Bonneville, TV presenter Eilidh Barbour, footballer Callum Hendry and Lost Voice Guy, winner of TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

The budding scribe has beaten the coronavirus restrictions by using his social media skills to set up interviews with the stars which then conducts on Instagram live  and Zoom before uploading them to his specially created Instagram account.

Following his early success, Kenzie has now been invited to visit the BBC’s Media City Complex in Manchester to interview Mike Bushell.

Kenzie, said his confidence grew after securing his first interview with one of his sporting heroes Callum Hendry.

“I’m huge fan of all levels of football and a St Johnstone fan so decided to contact my favourite player in the hope something might come off,” he said.

“I couldn’t believe it when he messaged me straight back agreeing to the interview.”

Kenzie admits it was nerve-wracking chatting with his sporting hero but the success gave him the confidence to do more.

Actor and star of hit TV series Downton Abbey, Hugh Bonneville was next to agree to be put in the spotlight by Kenzie.

The youngster is now setting his sights on becoming a news reporter, and has secured an invite by the BBC to visit its Manchester based Media City complex to interview presenter and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Mike Bushell.

His next high profile interview target is former newspaper editor and TV presenter, Piers Morgan.

“He’s been hard to track down because his PR agent didn’t seem to be listed, but I knew from reading Piers Morgan’s tweets that he often visited his favourite café,” he said.

“I found the café’s contact details, called them to explain what I was after and with a lot of luck they got Piers to contact me.

“I’m hopeful that’ll soon be another one in the can.”
