Part of the southbound M90 in Fife is to be closed until the weekend for emergency repairs to an underground high voltage cable.
The closure was to come into place at 8pm on Wednesday and will affect the southbound on-slip and bus lane at Admiralty junction.
Bear Scotland said the closure will allow Scottish Power Energy Networks to make the urgent repair to the cable.
The closure is expected to remain in place until Sunday morning.
The works follow damage to the cable which affected the power supply to almost 1,400 customers in the Inverkeithing area earlier this week.
Customers were without power for almost an hour on Tuesday morning because of the fault, with a temporary alternative supply put in place while the full repair works are progressed.
Ross Galbraith, SP Energy Networks’ district general manager for Central and Fife, said: “While we’ve been able to put a temporary fix in place to keep the power on for local homes and businesses, it’s essential we repair the cable and get the network back to normal as quickly as possible to minimise the potential for any further disruption.
“Unfortunately, the location of the repair leaves us with no choice but to implement this temporary road closure and, while I know this will be frustrating for drivers, I can assure everyone we’ll be working round the clock to minimise the disruption as much as we can.
“We would ask anyone travelling to and from this area to consider the potential impact of these works on their expected journey times.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank everyone for their patience and cooperation while we complete these essential repair works and keep the power flowing for our customers.”
The on-slip and bus lane on the #M90 S/B at J1C will close tonight at 20:00 for emergency repairs to a high voltage cable.

Traffic using the M90 southbound at Junction 1C will also be restricted to a single lane from from 8pm on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday, and on Saturday night to allow the installation and removal of a safety barrier next to the works.
A diversion route for traffic that would normally join the M90 southbound at Admiralty will be signposted via the M90 northbound and the A823(M) to M90 Junction 2 Pitreavie.
