Views sought on Fife’s mobile library

Fifers being asked for their views on Fife's mobile library service.

Fifers are being asked for feedback on plans to change the mobile library routes and timetables.

The planned closure of a number of libraries across the region prompted a review of the location of mobile library stops in a bid to ensure it can be accessed by as many people as possible.

Service development manager June Soutar said: “All of the mobile library routes, location of stops and length of stops have been reviewed by the drivers and assistants who staff the vehicles and their managers, and we have created two new route proposals for two mobile libraries.

“The proposals include longer stops for some locations and include new stops for those communities where a static library is closing.”

She added: “We are looking for comments from our readers and the wider Fife communities on the impact of the proposals for the revised stops and times so that these can be considered before the final routes are determined.

“The new routes will be implemented from mid-July.”

Copies of the survey are available from all Fife libraries or online at www.onfife.com/librarymobile.

Fife Council agreed to recommendations at the end of last year that 16 libraries in the region should close, although some communities are working on their own plans for alternative services not run by the local authority.
