A road rage driver who punched a man in Dunfermline town centre has been ordered to carry out 135 hours of unpaid work.
Thomas Fleming became irate following a slight collision with another car and repeatedly punched the driver in the face, knocking out his false teeth and leaving blood splattered on the windscreen.
Fleming, 29, of Pentland Terrace, High Valleyfield, previously admitted that on August 6 at Kirkgate, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence.
He also admitted assaulting Martin Hutton by repeatedly striking him on the head to his injury, when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf previously told the court that at around 12.50pm, Mr Hutton was driving along St Catherine’s Wynd when he saw a vehicle coming towards him at speed.
There was slight contact between the cars. Fleming who was driving the other vehicle, got out and approached Mr Hutton, shouting at him.
Mr Hutton, who had his window down, said there was enough space for the two vehicles to pass.
The 47-year-old was then “punched at least twice on the head by the accused,” said Ms Yousaf.
Sheriff Charles MacNair imposed a community payback order with 135 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay his victim £300 compensation.
