A woman was sexually assaulted as she slept on a sofa, Dunfermline Sheriff Court has been told.

Calum King, 26, of Camdean Crescent, Rosyth, admitted on October 18 2014 at his home sexually assaulting a woman while she was asleep and touching her private parts.

Depute fiscal Claire Bremner said that over a two-day period, King, the victim and another man had been “in and out of each other’s company” at various places.

On the day of the offence, King returned home at 5am and was joined by the male friend at 8am. They were then joined by the victim at around 11am and they all consumed further alcohol throughout the day.

The victim was asleep on a sofa when she became aware King’s hand was inside her underwear.

The woman told the other man what had happened and then left to go to the home of a female friend.

She told her and another man about what had happened. They later confronted King but he neither confirmed nor denied he had done it.

Defence solicitor Chris Sneddon said his client had not got on particularly well with the woman at first but spent time with each other on these days and he “misinterpreted things”.

Mr Sneddon said his client was “extremely sorry” and was “aware of the consequences”.

Sheriff Craig McSherry placed King on the sex offenders register and deferred sentencing until June 15.
