St Andrews Museum has a very special treat in store for summer visitors.

The museum will be showcasing an exhibition of paintings by the celebrated group of artists known as the Glasgow Boys.

All of the paintings come from the fine art collection cared for by Fife Cultural Trust on behalf of Fife Council.

There are more than 40 Glasgow Boys paintings in the collection and the A Spirit of Rebellion exhibition offers visitors a rare opportunity to see many of them brought together in one venue.

In all the show, which runs until September 3, displays 25 paintings by 17 artists.

Linked by friendship and a shared desire to rebel against the existing art establishment in late 19th Century Scotland, the Glasgow Boys became internationally famous.

To encourage younger visitors to explore the paintings, there are lots of hands-on activities available, from a giant art-themed snakes and ladders, to gallery back-packs full of fun quizzes and games that the family can enjoy together.

Also running in conjunction with the exhibition is a programme of events and activities, from children’s craft workshops to adult painting classes and lunchtime curator’s tours.
