Woman seen spraying substance on cars near Burntisland harbour given police warning

A woman seen in a viral video spraying an unidentified substance on cars in Burntisland has been given a recorded police warning.

A video filmed in the Lammerlaws Road area of Burntisland appears to show the woman approaching two cars and spraying something on their windscreens.

The video went viral and was shared thousands of times after it was posted by Fife Jammer Locations on July 14.

Concerned locals reported the video to police, who said they were investigating.

39-year-old spoken to by police

A spokeswoman said: “Following a social media video of an incident in Burntisland, a 39-year-old woman was traced and received a recorded police warning.”

Such warnings are used for low-level offences and stay on record for a period of two years.

Many of those commenting on the video were alarmed at the potential consequences, with fears the substance could damage a car windscreen or obscure a driver’s vision.

‘This is totally out of order’

One person wrote: “The potential consequences don’t bear thinking about.”

Others thought the can resembled WD40, a solvent that interacts with water.

One said: “WD40 is a nightmare when you use screen wash and wipers. It becomes blurry.”

A third added: “This is shocking. Totally out of order.”
