A painting by Jack Vettriano is expected to be sold for up to £200,000.
Beautiful Losers will be auctioned in Edinburgh in October.
The piece by the Fife artist, who was temporarily forced to give up painting due to a shoulder injury last year, was described as an enigmatic piece featuring two men and a woman.
Last year Bonhams sold another of his famous paintings, Waltzers, for £236,000.
The auction house is also to sell his Model in White, which has been valued at up to £60,000.
It said Beautiful Losers, which was exhibited in New York’s Portland Gallery in 1999 and Kelvingrove Art Gallery in 2013 and 2014, was suffused with the air of mystery Vettriano is known for.
Chris Brickley, head of Scottish art with Bonhams, said, “Jack Vettriano is a master of nuance.
“The figures in his paintings often interact in an ambiguous way leaving the viewers to work out what is happening for themselves.
“Beautiful Losers is a perfect example of his ability to leave questions hanging in the air.
“It is this which make his works so intriguing and sought after.”
In May last year, Vettriano, 63, broke his right shoulder when he fell at home.
He has undergone regular physiotherapy sessions but his spokeswoman said he was making good recovery and is expected to pick up his brushes again soon.
One of the Methil-born artist’s most famous paintings, The Singing Butler, sold for £744,000 in 2044 and is one of the best-selling posters in Britain.
More recently a 12-strong collection of his paintings sold for more than £837,000 in Edinburgh.
Actor Jack Nicholson and football legend Sir Alex Ferguson are among those who have bought his pieces.
Vettriano left school at the age of 16 and did not take up painting full-time until he was 40.
