St Andrews locals were stunned to see acting superstar Mark Wahlberg wandering the seaside town.

Reports suggest the Hollywood A-lister tackled the famous Old Course Links on Tuesday morning before filming scenes for his TV show, ‘The Wahlburgers’.

The star visited a local kilt shop and was seen getting into a vintage red sports car as throngs of people flocked to grab a snap of the American.

Social media users were in disbelief that the man from the big screen was walking around the usually quiet Scottish town.

Sean Tennant wrote: “Just out for a wander in St Andrews for lunch and you see Mark Wahlberg!”

Sarah Farrell posted: “Just had such a cool experience! Mark Wahlberg is filming in St Andrews.

“So nice to meet such wonderful people who use their fame this way, and are still clearly humbled by these little stories they hear. What a nice man!”

Whilst Dani Innes was gutted to have missed out on seeing the actor.

She wrote: “The fact that Mark Wahlberg is in St Andrews and loads of my pals just met him makes me want to cry omg.”

Wahlberg has starred in a host of smash-hit movies such as Martin Scorsese’s The Departed as well as comedies like Ted.

He is known to be a huge golf fan and it’s rumoured he has a golf complex in the back yard of his home.
