Helicopter rescue required to save girl from St Andrews rocks

A coastguard helicopter was scrambled to St Andrews on Saturday night after a girl became stranded on rocks.

The incident happened at around 8.50 with the casualty having come into difficulties near St Andrews Castle.

A winch was used to lift the victim into the chopper, which is then understood to have flown to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee as a precautionary measure.

The girl is not understood to have sustained any serious injuries.
