Two people have been taken to hospital following a serious, early morning car crash in Fife
The A92 was sealed off between Ladybank and the Melville Lodges roundabout for much of Saturday following the smash, which occurred just before 5am.
Two people have been taken to hospital for treatment following the collision between a white Volkswagen Up and silver Vauxhall Corsa, just north of Ladybank.
The Courier understands that a male and female were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment to broken bones.
Fire crews from Glenrothes were called to the scene, using cutting gear to remove one of the causalities from their vehicle.
A police investigation has been launched, with officers having spent the day examining the scene.
Urging any witnesses to come forward, Sergeant Alastair Purvis of Fife’s Road Policing Unit said: “The A92 remains closed whilst the collision is investigated and the road is cleared and made safe for traffic again.
“Diversions are in place and I would like to thank motorists for their patience.
“I’m keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle beforehand.”
The road was closed until around 4pm, with delays reported on diversionary routes towards Cupar and Falkland.
