Motorists faced long delays after a road accident on the Standing Stane Road outside Kirkcaldy on Thursday afternoon.
The accident, which happened at 3.38pm, involved an articulated lorry and a car.
No one was trapped in either of the vehicles.
The driver of the car received precautionary checks from the Scottish Ambulance Service at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews had helped police make the road safe.
Tailbacks quickly emerged while the emergency services were dealing with the incident.
