Scotland’s biggest makeup college is to open its doors in Dunfermline.

GlamCandy has invested more than £250,000 in the High Street premises making it the largest makeup college facility in the country.

The investment has secured 12 jobs for the town and offers space for dozens of students aiming to kick-start their career in the beauty industry.

GlamCandy have operated in Dunfermline for several years – with their most recent class of 10 students all securing new employment in the makeup industry after completing their courses this month.

The Edinburgh firm now expects to recruit further staff at the college in coming months and say the new 1600 square foot Dunfermline premises can accommodate up to 72 aspiring makeup artists at a time at their SQA approved courses.

GlamCandy will be offering HNCs in Fashion Makeup and HND in Makeup Artistry at the Dunfermline establishment.

The move comes as they embark on an ambitious UK wide investment programme after partnering with Julian Kynaston — the man behind cult makeup brand Illamasqua.

The firm hope to recruit up to 50 new staff across the country as they open new colleges up and down the UK — with a new location in Glasgow to be confirmed this summer.

GlamCandy director Hayley Harvey-Smith said her team were excited to expand their presence in Dunfermline.

She said: “We have been running courses in Fife for some time now, as well as having a presence within schools in the area taking our SQA approved courses directly to young people looking to break into the industry.

“Our new college will allow us to offer our courses to far more students as well as offering state-of-the-art facilities.

“It is a really exciting time for GlamCandy and we’re proud to be expanding our presence in Dunfermline and look forward to training the next generation of makeup artists in the area.

“Our latest graduating class in Dunfermline came from backgrounds such as retail, catering and call centre jobs — and all 10 have secured new jobs as makeup artists off the back of their training with us.

“Our courses are providing really useful, sought after skills that are transforming the lives of our students as they move on into their new careers.”

Julian Kynaston, the serial entrepreneur who sold his Illamasqua beauty brand for £23 million last year, has been the driving force behind a major investment in GlamCandy.

He said that the Dunfermline opening was the next step in “making GlamCandy the ‘go-to’ makeup college brand in the UK”.
