A vile internet troll who repeatedly targeted the family of missing man Allan Bryant Jnr has been released from prison.

Stewart McInroy has been granted interim liberation pending an appeal.

The 27-year-old was given an eight month prison sentence at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on June 1 after admitting sending Facebook messages to the missing Glenrothes man’s family.

It was the second time he had targeted Allan Bryant’s family since he disappeared from outside Styx nightclub in November 2013.

McInroy most recently sent a series of taunting private messages to the missing man’s dad and sister Amy on March 7.

Mr Bryant has hit out at the decision to release McInroy pending appeal and says has been told that no special bail conditions are in place.

Mr Bryant said: “I’m gobsmacked. I can’t believe he’s been let out. I got a call from the Victim Support team telling me he had released from prison today.

“I actually called them back to make sure it wasn’t some kind of sick joke but it’s true. I just can’t believe it.

“He’ll be put in a scatter flat somewhere in Fife but it won’t take long to find out where he is.

“He’s just going to do the same thing again and start sending messages, he can’t help himself.

“He’s just on normal bail, there aren’t any special conditions stopping him from contacting me or any of my family.”

A spokesperson for the Judicial Office for Scotland said: “We can confirm that Stewart McInroy has been granted interim liberation pending his appeal.”
