Nearly 50 firefighters tackle huge blaze at Devilla Forest in Fife

Nearly 50 firefighters are tackling a major forest fire in west Fife, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed.

Six fire crews and two specialist vehicles have been involved in tackling the blaze in Devilla Forest, just off the A985 Kincardine to Dunfermline road.

No-one has been injured, but a huge amount of resources have been deployed by the fire service to bring the situation under control.

Two fire engines from Falkirk and pumps from Alloa, Dunfermline, Larbert and Stirling have been in attendance since the blaze was reported at 2pm.

A command support unit from Liberton in Edinburgh has also been assisting, as has an all-terrain vehicles from Dunblane.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area if possible.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Residents are asked to keep their windows and and doors shut because of the smoke.”

An investigation is likely to be carried out in due course, although a spokesperson for the fire service confirmed it appears to be a wild fire.
