The scene at Saline on Thursday morning.

Police have confirmed that a 38-year-old woman was killed a crash on the outskirts of Saline on Thursday.

Officers have appealed for witnesses in relation to the incident, which took place around 10am on the B913 road out of Saline towards Dollar at the Saline Hotel.

The woman, who has yet to be named by police, sustained serious injuries after her Vauxhall Astra was involved in a collision with a trailer, which was being towed by a Land Rover Discovery.

Emergency services responded to the scene, where, despite the best efforts of the Scottish Ambulance Service, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Ewan Pearce from the Road Policing Unit in Fife said: “Tragically, this incident has resulted in the female driver of the Astra sustaining injuries, which she could not recover from.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family at this time.

“We are still in the process of trying to establish exactly what has happened during the collision and would urge any motorists who were on the road at the time, and can assist with our inquiries, to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone with any other relevant information should also get in touch.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 934 of the August 30.
