Comic book heroes will swoop into Glenrothes at the weekend.

Stars including Iron Man, Batman, Chewbacca and the Ghostbusters team will be brought to life by cosplayers at a comic con in the Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre.

There will also be guest appearances from writers and artists from Marvel, DC, Image, Commando, The Beano and 2000AB Comics.

Guests announced so far include Al Ewing, Ian Kennedy, Tom Foster, Neil Slorance, Laura Howell and Tanya Roberts.

The Delorean from the Back to the Future films will be parked outside for photo opportunities.

Saturday’s event is part of a series across Scotland by BGCP Comic Con, coming to Glenrothes for the first time.

Organiser Ian Bonar said: “We’ve had several requests to come to Fife and Glenrothes is the perfect place to launch our first Comic Con in Fife.

“We aim to provide an affordable day out which will stay with you until the next one as well as encouraging kids to get into writing and drawing via a variety of free workshops taking place at the event.

“We’ll have a big cosplay competition to finish of the day so don’t be surprised to see Superman flying over Church Street or Spider-Man swinging up Viewfield.”

Fife-based comic artist Gary Erskine is creative director for the event, which will run from 10am to 5pm, with the costume competition at 3.30pm.
