Fife duo to raise cash for charity by golfing in the dark

A pair of keen Fife golfers will be teeing off after twilight this weekend to raise cash for two worthy causes.

Stewart Rankin and Iain Duncan will embark on a 12-hour golf challenge at Cupar Golf Club right through the night on Saturday to collect money for Calum’s Cabin and Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The intrepid pair will be out on the course, braving whatever the elements throw at them, from 7pm to 7am, after deciding that 12 hours of non-stop golf during the day would be – as Iain put it – “too easy”.

“We are completing this at Cupar Golf Club who are holding a quiz and curry night for anyone who wants to come along and support us,” he explained.

“As well as donations, we will be running a raffle and some other on the night fundraising games. Please give as little or as much as you can afford.”

A JustGiving page for the Golf in the Dark event has been set up to boost their  chosen charities and supporters hope people will give generously to smash their fundraising targets.

CHAS provides palliative care, family respite and support through Scotland, while Calum’s Cabin was set up to provide holiday homes on the Isle of Bute for children suffering from cancer or a cancer-related disease where families can come together.

It was named after 12-year-old Rothesay boy Calum Spiers who lost his fight for life little more than a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2007.
