Drivers in north east Fife found themselves in lengthy tailbacks following a three-vehicle accident near Guardbridge just before rush hour.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision near the Guardbridge Hotel on the A91 Old St Andrews Road at 4.59pm.
No-one was injured and two of the vehicles were able to be driven off the roadway, although one was obstructing the road for a time.
A recovery vehicle was contacted, but motorists reported large queues in and around the surrounding area well into the evening.
Roadworks at Guardbridge exacerbated the traffic congestion locally.
