Fife woman guilty of £44k benefit fraud lived with bank worker who drove Mercedes

A Fife woman who conned taxpayers out of more than £44,000 lived with a bank worker who drove a Mercedes.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Lynn Crombie, 40, of Ancrum Court, Glenrothes, admitted fraudulently obtaining benefits by failing to disclose she was living with and maintaining a household with husband Christopher Smart.

Between November 18 2011 and January 28 2016, she claimed a total of £44,143.83 she was not entitled to.

The court heard Mr Smart had the use of a blue Mercedes company car, which was seen parked close to Crombie’s home. The couple had been married since 2012.

Sentence was deferred until August 14.
