A Fife chef who was hurrying to get home after a bad day at work was caught driving at 120mph.

Kieran McCord was travelling from his work in North Queensferry to his home in Cowdenbeath when he exceeded the speed limit by 50mph.

He now fears he will lose his job after being banned from driving.

McCord, 23, of King Street, Cowdenbeath, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on February 22 on the A92 between Halbeath and Cowdenbeath he drove a car dangerously at excessive speed in a 70mph limit.

Depute fiscal Alistair McDermid said police in an unmarked car saw McCord speeding along the dual carriageway.

They followed him but he was going so fast it took them two miles to get close enough to activate their blue lights and pull him over.

Solicitor Amy Allan said, “The incident took place at 10pm when Mr McCord was on his way home from his employment as a chef.

“He believes he may lose his job as a result of not being able to drive during his disqualification.”

Sheriff James MacDonald fined McCord £600 and banned him from driving for a year and until he passes the extended driving test.
