Stars from the silver screen graced a Fife town centre on Saturday as science fiction fans launched a “Dunfermline Invasion”.
Capital Sci-Fi Con unveiled the town’s debut event in the Kingsgate, bringing movie props and stars while raising money for a good cause.
All proceeds from the extravaganza will go to children’s charity Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (Chas).
Among the famous faces chatting to visitors and signing autographs were Jimmy Vee of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Doctor Who fame.
Fellow Star Wars and Harry Potter actor Katy Purvis, who also starred in Labyrinth, was also in demand.
Tribute props and sets from Star Wars, Gremlins, Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones were in evidence, while fans in fantastic costumes delighted young visitors and turned shoppers’ heads.
Even some of the youngsters enjoyed dressing up and plenty of Harry Potters and Hermione Graingers were seen strolling through the town.
There were also plenty of goodies up for grabs for the discerning collector, adding to the hive of activity in the shopping centre.
Capital Sci-Fi Con founder Keith Armour said he hoped the event, dubbed Dunfermline Invasion, would be the first of many in the town.
Speaking before the doors opened, he said: “We have an action-packed day for all the family to enjoy.
“We hope the community will come and enjoy what’s on offer.”
Chas community fundraiser Fiona Leslie added: “We love to see the Kingsgate full of sci-fi and comic fans dressed as their heroes.
“Cos-players are out in full force.
“Our thanks go to Keith Armour and his team for bringing this superb event together.
“Every penny raised goes towards helping families who use Chas.”
In Scotland, nearly 16,000 children and young people live with life-shortening conditions and Chas provides hospice services including palliative, respite and end-of-life care from Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch.
The Chas at Home service supports families with the service of a hospice in their own homes across Scotland.
