
A serious road collision involving a single marked police car has closed the M90 on the northbound lane at Kelty in Fife on Sunday night.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident which occurred at around 9.30pm on the busy stretch of road.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The collision involved a marked police vehicle and happened around 9.30pm.
“No other vehicles were involved.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service are at the scene.”
The road remained closed for a number of hours on Sunday night with witnesses describing numerous police cars attending the accident.
At around 11.30pm Fife Police put out a warning to motorists to avoid the area.
They said: “The M90 eastbound is currently closed between junctions 4 and 5 at Kelty due to a serious road traffic collision.
“Diversions are in place and motorists should avoid the area where possible.”
Any injuries suffered in the accident are as of yet unknown.
