A Rattray man put his stepfather in a headlock in a dispute over a dog.
Liam Wight attacked Mark Fowler in front of a teenage girl.
Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney told Perth Sheriff Court: “The accused and Mr Fowler were in dispute about ownership of a dog. He barged into the house and immediately placed Mr Fowler in a head lock.”
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, said Wight had since become ostracised from his family and had been sofa surfing.
Wight, of Glendevon Court, Rattray, admitted assaulting Mr Fowler at an address in Perth on May 3 last year.
Sheriff William Wood fined him £300.
