Perth Autism Support undertook the project following the success of their two previous Christmas singles. This year’s song is titled To One and All.

The group’s members were supported by their families and sponsors as they shared their work for the first time on Sunday at Perth’s Station Hotel.

Perth Autism Support Fundraising Officer, Faith Nicholson spoke of the impact releasing a single had on their young people.

She said: “The Christmas single is a great way to bring our community together, raise awareness of autism and develop confidence, self-esteem and pride in our young people.”

Perth Autism Support is a local charity which helps children under the age of 18.

It aims to ensure that child diagnosed with in Perth and Kinross has access to quality activities and services.

Chief Executive Officer at Perth Autism Support, Angie Ferguson said: “We work with 240 autistic children and young people weekly and many of them can often have low confidence, high anxiety or a number of barriers that stop their creativity and imagination, particularly in such a public way.

“The single is the opportunity for those who enjoy music and singing to be involved with their PAS friends in doing something they may not usually have the chance to do.”

Singles released by Perth Autism Support in previous years have sold hundreds of copies and have been available to download online.

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which can affect the way a person communicates, how they relate to other people and how they experience the world around them. As a spectrum condition, each person with autism will be affected in different ways.

Ms Nicholson highlighted the ways in which the group helps the young people in attendance.

She said: “We believe at Perth Autism Support that early intervention is critical for children and young people to be enabled to lead fulfilling lives, and training and awareness is essential to ensure that they are understood and supported in a positive way.”

Perth Autism Support’s Christmas singles are available to watch on their YouTube channel.
