Police are hunting smash-and-grab thieves who made off with a haul of booze from a Perth supermarket.
Raiders forced their way into the Glasgow Road branch of discount chain Aldi in the early hours of Wednesday.
They were caught on CCTV smashing through the glass front door at around 5am. Once inside, they broke through another set of doors to get into the main body of the shop.
It is understood the thieves went straight to the drinks aisle – passing a cash machine – and snatched six bottles of spirits, worth around £120.
The shop was closed for more than three hours while police scoured the scene for clues.
A sign on the door told customers it had been shut temporarily while staff were “waiting for forensics”.
Manager David Hobday said the raid had caused “substantial damage” to the front of the store.
“We arrived at work this morning to find that the place had been broken into,” he said. “The first thing we saw was the front door which had been broken and pushed in.
“They smashed up the inner and outer entrance doors, but they didn’t create a lot of mess anywhere else in the shop.
“They just seem to have grabbed the bottles and left. It seems to have been a lot of drama for just a few bottles of alcohol.”
The shop was able to re-open just before 11am, after forensic teams finished their search inside.
Officers also carried out door-to-door inquiries and appealed for nearby businesses for any CCTV.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers in Perth are carrying out inquiries into a break-in to a business premises on Glasgow Road.”
He appealed for any witnesses to call police on 101.
The raid follows a spate of break-ins to homes in the Letham area of the city, including one in Cluny Terrace on Monday.
