Claire Fyfe, 34, who is originally from Stanley, advanced through the first semi-final hurdle on Wednesday evening as seven contestants became five.

The interior designer, who now lives in London, was tasked with creating a game burger made of five different meats including pheasant, grouse, wild duck, venison and partridge, surrounded celeriac soup and topped with a quail’s egg.

Tom said the dish “looked nice” and that egg was cooked to perfection but the burger needed “a little more seasoning”.

Gregg Wallace though said he loved the burger, describing it as “cracking and livery rich”.

For the second dish Claire had to create a dish that was inspired by someone that inspired her.

The former Glenalmond College student impressed the judges with a beef olive recipe that had been passed down from her granny to her mother.

Claire will now attempt to take the next step towards the MasterChef crown on BBC One tonight at 7.30pm.
