More than 1,000 volunteers have signed up to support vulnerable people across Perth and Kinross since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak.
Perth and Kinross Council and PKAVS thanked those who had offered their skills and services directly through the organisations or via the Scotland Cares initiative.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Perth and Kinross has always benefited from high numbers of volunteers, but this response is unprecedented, in unprecedented times – and testimony to the commitment of our citizens to the values of kindness, compassion and community.
PKAVS is now contacting prospective volunteers to match them to opportunities as quickly as possible while the local authority liaises with community groups who are already supporting people across the region.
Examples include the volunteers supporting NHS Tayside by providing administrative and reception desk cover which has freed up staff to attend vital coronavirus training at Perth Royal Infirmary.
Other examples include the food larders and ‘take and share’ supply boxes which community groups have set up in various neighbourhoods.

The chief executives of the two bodies, Karen Reid of Perth and Kinross Council and Paul Graham of PKAVS issued a joint statement asking for patience while people are matched volunteering opportunities.
A council spokesperson said: “It can be frustrating when offers of help are not required immediately.
“Acknowledging this (the chief executives) asked for patience whilst people are matched with the help which is needed in different localities and bearing in mind the impact of Covid-19 will be felt for some time volunteers will be vital in the weeks and months ahead.

“Both chief executives also stressed that people should only volunteer when they can do so safely, and should not sign up to more than they know they can take on.
“Even small acts of kindness, like ringing a neighbour once a week for a chat, can make a huge difference.
“Perth and Kinross Council and PKAVS want to thank everyone who has stepped up to lend a hand, volunteer and make a difference to our communities.
“Their contribution will be central to the Perth and Kinross offer as we recover from the impact of Covid-19 on our unique, diverse and beautiful area and we start to look to the future.”
