New real-time displays are being introduced at bus stops on routes between Perthshire and Dundee.

Perth and Kinross Council received £328,000 from Transport Scotland for the devices which give waiting passengers up to date information on the wherabouts of their buses.

They will be installed along the western corridor through the Carse of Gowrie, and the north western corridor between Blairgowrie and Dundee.

A council spokesperson said 33 new signs will be put in place and five existing signs are being upgraded.

They are part of a Transport Scotland-funded project to support the use of public transport and the introduction of a low emission zone in Dundee.

The move was welcomed by Alasdair Bailey, Labour councillor for the Carse of Gowrie ward.

He said: “I’m really pleased to see these signs going up because there’s nothing worse than arriving at the bus stop not knowing whether you’ve already missed the bus.

“Whilst the bus routes and timetables are far from perfect, this information will remove much of the uncertainty of using them.”
