Queues of visitors have been lining up to see the spectacular Weeping Window display at Perth’s Black Watch Castle.
Deputy First Minister John Swinney was among the crowds who attended the poppies attraction on Friday.
He said: “It is hugely poignant that my visit coincides with the 100th anniversary of the 100th anniversary of the first day of the Battle of Somme. This battle took the lives of countless brave soldiers from Perthshire and beyond.
“It is therefore, fitting that this breath-taking installation has been opened at this time and at the traditional home of the Black Watch.”
The Armistice-theme sculpture is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors during its three-month stay in Perth.
