Girls injured in A9 accident near Aberuthven

Four people – including two children – have been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee  following an accident on the A9 near Aberuthven.

The two-vehicle accident was reported at around 2.10pm on the northbound carriageway on the Perth side of Aberuthven.

Scottish Fire and Rescue sent one unit from Perth to assist at the scene.

The road was blocked while the vehicles and debris were removed from the carriageway, causing some delays for motorists who were diverted from the scene.

The extent of the injuries sustained by the the injured – two girls, a man and a woman – is not yet known.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles that happened at about 2pm this afternoon on the northbound carriageway of the A9, near the junction of the B9141 by Dunning.

“The driver of a black Ford Transit van sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Four occupants of a black Ford Focus were taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance.

“One lane of the northbound carriageway is currently closed whilst enquiries into the full circumstances of the collision continue. Please be patient and expect delays.”

Both lanes of the A9 north of Aberuthven were closed but reopened shortly before 9pm.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and has information that could assist officers with their enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
