Teenager ‘vampire’ hunted by locals after sex assault in Perth, court hears

Dundee attacker unconscious prison
The hearings have been at Perth Sheriff Court.

A self-styled vampire carried out a sex attack on a teenage girl in the street and told her he was going to drag her off to woodland to rape her.

The semi-naked 17-year-old jumped on his terrified victim in broad daylight in a housing estate with the intention of carrying out a serious sex attack on her.

The teenager repeatedly claimed to be a vampire and bit through a police officer’s boot to sink his teeth into his foot during the bizarre episode.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that the youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also ranting about “angels, demons, witches and werewolves.”

Binge-watched vampire TV show

The court was told that he had downed Jack Daniels and Dragon Soop, smoked cannabis, and had been binge-watching a TV series about vampires before the incident.

Fiscal depute Michael Sweeney told the court: “Girls were approached by a drunk male, later identified as the accused. He had dark jogging bottoms on, but no shoes and nothing on his upper half.

“He was screaming, shouting and jumping around. He began talking about angels, demons, vampires, witches and werewolves, and suggested he was a vampire.

“She thought he was just having a joke. He continued to walk, talk and follow her. He repeatedly touched her on the body, pawing and groping her.”

He told her: “I’ll have my way with you. I’ll take you into the woods and I’m going to wipe your memory and I’m going to rape you in the woods.

“See that lamppost? When you get to that you are going to come willingly. I’ll do what I want and none of us will remember. Just walk past it. You’re not human – are you a witch?”

He kneeled in front of her and tried a fireman’s lift, while making more comments about vampires and mind control, Mr Sweeney said.

‘No one understands me’

The 17-year-old then said: “I can rip your throat out” before grabbing the girl, twisting her round, and throwing her to the ground.

“She landed on her back,” the prosecutor said. “The accused straddled her and had both hands around her neck.

“The girl went into survival mode as she thought he was going to drag her into the woods and rape her. She screamed and scratched him to the back and front and kicked him in the genitals until he got off.”

“He said no-one understood him and then he ran off into the woods,” said Mr Sweeney.

Hunt

Several locals went looking for him and when they found him he said he had tried to “save” the girl and that he was a vampire.

“He said he was going to kill them, kill the girl in her sleep and was going to rape her and that he was a vampire. He said he was untouchable.”

The accused said: “I’m dangerous, I’ll hurt you and your family. I’m a vampire.” Mr Sweeney added: “He let out a roar as if he was an animal.”

After he was arrested, the youth was taken to Dundee police HQ where he bit the police officer’s boot so hard that his teeth went through to his foot.

Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said that when he was interviewed the next day his client was completely transformed and was polite and co-operative.

He said: “He confirmed he had been drinking alcohol, Jack Daniels and Dragon Soop, and remembered little or nothing of his actions. He was out of control.

“He was told he had spoken about angels, demons and werewolves and thought he was a vampire. He indicated he had been binge watching a vampire programme for a number of series and that may have been the reason for saying these things.”

Blood tests

Blood tests were taken to try and explain the bizarre behaviour, but a trace of cannabis was all that was found. The complainer would have been extremely frightened.”

The teenager, from Dundee, admitted sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl with intent to rape her in Grammar Hill and Bute Drive in Perth at 9.20pm on 24 July last year.

He admitted touching her breasts and buttocks, seizing her body and throat, forcing her to the ground and straddling her – all to her injury.

He admitted attacking another 14-year-old girl by seizing and touching her body in Dunnock Park and Kite Way on the same evening.

He admitted acting in a threatening and abusive manner by smashing a car window with his fist and hurling threats at a number of witnesses.

The youth further admitted assaulting PC Nathan Shields by biting him at Dundee police HQ and he was granted bail as sentence was deferred for background reports.

Sheriff Gillian Wade said: “The person who can remember it very clearly is the victim. He told her he was going to rape her. This has had a very serious psychological effect on her.

“Be in no doubt that what I am considering is a custodial sentence. I will take some persuasion to deviate from that.”
