All systems go for Rewind 2017 at Scone

The Rewind festival draws huge crowds to Perthshire.
The Rewind festival draws huge crowds to Perthshire.

The future of Rewind at Scone Palace is secure for next year despite the sale of the festival.

Rewind — which also has two festivals in England — has been acquired from festival promoters Impresario by Global, a company with business interests in radio, television, music publishing and other areas of the entertainment industry.

Global announced on their website that they had increased their presence in the festival market by increasing their stake in the company Broadwick Live and the “strategic acquisition” of a number of events including the Rewind Festival brand.

David Heartfield of Impresario was out of the country and unavailable to comment on the news but festival insiders insisted it was “business as usual” for the Scottish event and Impresario’s involvement would continue.

Early bird tickets went on sale on Friday and the VIP tickets have already sold out, an early indication that nothing could come in the way of next July’s event taking place.

“It will still go ahead as usual as will Rewind North and Rewind South,” said the insider.

The popularity of the event, which last year attracted 30,000 music fans to Scone, is evident in the early rush for tickets before the line-up has even been announced.

Acts playing the festival from July 21 to 23 2017 will not be announced until early next year and general tickets will then become available.

The event has a track record of attracting the biggest names from the 80s and this summer, which was the festival’s sixth year at Scone Palace, boasted headline performances from Holly Johnson and Adam Ant.

Among the other names appearing were the Average White Band, Toyah, Rick Astley, Tony Hadley, Marc Almond, Go West, ABC, Midge Ure and China Crisis.

The company which is now ultimately in charge of Rewind, Global, is home to some of the country’s top radio stations including Heart, Capital and Classic FM.

The Global statement said they were “obsessed with all aspects of the entertainment business”.

“We’re passionate, we do it all, and we’re changing the way the industry approaches development, nurture and growth of talent,” they said.
