The man who launched the 80s Rewind festivals said their sale to a major player in the entertainment industry would be good for all concerned.
“Basically they made us an offer we could not refuse,” said David Heartfield of Impresario, who started the festival down south with close friend and T’Pau singer Carole Decker in 2009.
He stressed that the acquisition of Rewind by Global — along with a host of other festivals they organise — would have no impact on the 30,000 revellers who flock to Scone Palace each year for the Scottish festival.
“Our involvement will continue for the next few years, nothing will change,” said Mr Heartfield.
“Rewind has been an enormous success, it grows every year.
“Obviously Global has a large amount of radio stations at a national level and with that access to music stations, it’s a good fit.”
Early bird tickets are already selling well for the Scone event from July 21 to 23 2017 despite the line up not being announced until early next year.
“We are flying around the world trying to persuade artists to wend their way to Scone in July,” he said.
This year was the sixth time the festival had been staged in Perthshire and it has grown in popularity year-on-year and has a reputation for attracting the best acts of the 80s from both sides of the Atlantic.
As well as the Scone festival, Rewind is also held at Henley-on-Thames and Cheshire and has even gone international with a successful launch in South Africa.
