Sir Andy Murray could soon be immortalised in bronze in his town with plans to erect a statue in his honour.
Campaigners want to build a permanent tribute to the world number one in Dunblane to celebrate his achievements.
The double Wimbledon champion already has a gold post box to mark his triumph in London in 2012.
Politicians will this month discuss whether one of Scotland’s greatest ever sportsmen should be granted a further honour.
A tribute to Andy’s brother Jamie, who became world doubles number one last year, will also be discussed.
Stirling Provost Mike Robbins said he would raise the idea with colleagues later this month and promised that locals would also be consulted.
“I am aware there is a desire in some parts of the Dunblane community to have a statue or tribute in the town to celebrate the Murray brothers’ achievements.
“We will add this to the agenda at the civic committee on January 24 so that initial discussions can take place.”
A spokesman for Tennis Scotland said: “A statue of Sir Andy would be appropriate given that he’s probably our greatest ever sports person and our only global superstar.
“Statues have been given for a lot less.”
