A bit of cocaine and a spilt paint pot led a Perth man to have a bizarre meltdown in his partner’s flat.
As brightly coloured paint leaked out across the bathroom floor, Gordon Porter began screaming hysterically.
He rushed from the room to grab an acoustic guitar before setting about the property’s furniture with his makeshift weapon.
The 45-year-old’s partner was so concerned by his behaviour that she was forced to call the police, who found Porter clutching the tattered remains of the instrument.
When he attempted to prevent them from entering the flat, they had to force their way in.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Porter eventually had to be calmed with CS spray after lashing out at four officers with his arms and legs.
A short time later at police headquarters in Perth, his drug fuelled rage gone, he apologised for everything saying “I’m dreadfully sorry”.
Porter, of Double Dykes Caravan Site, admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner at an address in Rannoch Road on February 10 this year by shouting, screaming, acting aggressively and striking furniture with a guitar.
He also admitted resisting police officers, brandishing a piece of wood, attempting to barricade himself in, lashing out with the wood and struggling with officers and being in possession of cocaine.
Sheriff William Wood ordered him to carry out 225 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
He told Porter: “I have heard a rather unedifying version of events that includes you rolling around with police officers while holding the neck of a guitar.
“It is clear that you need to sort out your problems with drugs and alcohol as this kind of behaviour cannot go on.
“Hopefully we won’t see you back in court – certainly not for this kind of nonsense.”
